Mexico City 1968
The choice of Mexico City to host the Games of the XIX Olympiad was a controversial one because of the city's high altitude of 2,300 metres. However, the altitude turned out to be an advantage in explosive events such as short-distance running, jumping, throwing and weightlifting, leading to many new world records.

However, as his heart was always set on cartooning, Argonés eventually settled in the USA as a cartoonist and managed to get his work published in an issue of Mad magazine.
